7.1.12

Sick of being sick.

I have not been feeling well since December 9th.
That's right, one whole month.
I am soo done with feeling crummy.
It started off as a cold- sore throat, running nose, sore chest, ear-ache..the works.
I had this when I was flying back from California.
Yup, I was that person on the plane that everyone hates.
That you hear coughing and think "you'd better not come anywhere near me with those germs"
(Em, sorry bout that folks)
Sometimes I feel a bit better but most of the time I still feel terrible, like every morning when I wake up.
So today I had a lazy day by the fire watching movies
(and maybe feeling a bit sorry for myself!)
Chariots of Fire was on TV - gets me everytime! Great movie.
Then I watched the Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Enjoyed that too. (bit freaky though)
And now I have just finished watching The Curious Case on Benjamin Button. I have mixed feelings about that. I laughed at first at the weird-looking-alien baby. Then I felt a bit sorry for him. Then it was a bit weird. Then I didn't relaly understand it. Then I wondered if it was a true story. So I still haven't made up my mind about that one.
Best part of the day though.
Getting me some snuggle time with Brindle (our cat)
I never let Brindle sit with me and snuggle. She can get quite vicious (well, only when I push her off me - her claws come out)
But today it was just nice.
We'll see if I let her do that tomorrow.

I am thinking that I probably need to go to the Docs on Monday and ask them to make me better.
Well, ask them if they can give me some drugs so that this lovely cold/flu/horribleness can leave my body.
I think it has had it's fun now.
I thought I would share this with you today.
You're welcome.
At least I didn't tell you how many times I sneazed today..and it wasn't pretty, let me tell you! ;)

Here's hoping tomorrow is a snot free day for everyone.
(Sorry for getting grose. I am delusional. I have watched a mix of movies today and I need some sleep)

Was I really there?

On Monday we celebrated my 22nd Birthday. Wow. Don't think I really thought about that one. That really crept up and bit me in the butt. Yikes. Right now, I love getting old. I love being a year older. I love being 22. In 10 or 20 years we will see if I am still so excited about getting older. I had a lovely day with the brother and mother. The day before my sister and I went for a picnic in the town we went to school. It was so fun and very chilled out. Just what we needed. We were reminiscing about old school days. It was lovely.

Lucy, Fin and I also went to the movies on Monday night. We went to see The Lincoln Lawyer. I enjoyed it. But I really want to read the book. But you should definitely go and see it. We enjoyed it.

So here is my little problem, something that I am upset about. I have no pictures of all this. I had a special day out with my sister. No photos. I had a lovely day with my brother and mum. No photos. Birthday cake. No photos. Presents and cards. No photos. So I think it is time to do something about this. I want to have photos of these special memories and not just take pretty photos of flowers. When I spent 4 months in Australia with my family I had so many photos. Photos of the different places we went, and my family. But not lots of photos with me and those places and my family. I basically have a flipbook of the Californian countryside from my first trip over there, but not many of all the amazing people that I met. So from now on I am going to always carry my camera with me. I am going to take it to work with me, when I go into town to do shopping, when I go for a walk, when I am watching a movie with my sister, when I am making dinner, when I am sewing something cute, when I am making people laugh, when people are making me laugh...I am going to have all these things in photos.

You should check out this lady. I know that I am always linking to her blog, but really you need to listen to this lady. She says it really well right here. Ok, so she is talking about getting in the photo with your kiddies but there is a little bit at the bottom where she is speaking to me!!

So I am going to leave you with a little photo of me and my peroxide blonde, curly hair! (so I got my hair done a few weeks ago, it was SO blonde when I left. She said to me "it looks so natural, just the natural sun-kissed look." I looked outside, it was pouring with rain. But really, I love it now that I am used to it.)

Just chilling with Mr Darcy.

Ok. I found this cute little book a couple of weeks ago. I was waiting to meet a friend in town and I had a bunch of time before she finished work so off I went to the bookstore. I have a funny relationship with reading. I find it really hard to find a book that really grabs my attention, but when I do I usually can't put the book down. I now know what books to look out for. I really enjoy Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks. So I went straight to the area where I would find Picoult's books and Sparks' books when I came across this one.
Me and Mr Darcy by Alexander Potter. Oh my goodness, I am so enjoying it. Anyone who knows me well knows that if I could pick out my perfect day it would be watching period dramas or Anne of Green Gables, Calamity Jane or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The thought of all these movies makes me smile.

Anyway, back to my little book. I read the blurb and smiled as I agreed with what I was reading.. "She'd rather curl up with Pride and Prejudice and step into a time where men were honourable and strode across fields in breeches, their damp shirts clinging to their chests." Eh...yes please! I then read the first page and knew that I this was the book that I would be reading if a wee coffee shop to pass time waiting for my friend.

I have never actually read Pride and Prejudice, but today I bought a copy of the book - a beautiful copy! I am looking forward to reading it after I finish this lovely book. I guess I am going to be chilling with Mr Darcy for a while, and I don't have a problem with that. So I am off to curl up with Me and Mr Darcy! You should definitely buy this book so you can do the same.

I found this image on google so you even know what book to look out for. Go on...you know you want to read it!!

To you I shall say, as I have often said before,

Curly.

My beautiful, baby brother left for his Navy training yesterday! Excuse me, but when did he grow up and how did I miss it? I honestly can't believe it.

A few days before he left we had a "date night". We went to the movies to see Due Date. I knew that it was going to be good because Fin had gone the night before and loved it! He was very happy to go and see it again. There were a lot of people in the cinema watching the movie. I got a little bit annoyed though. It seemed like there were hundreds of people that were all there together and I think they thought they were on their sofa watching it at home. Every couple of minutes they would turn around and talk to the person 2 rows behind them!! I didn't notice this too much because I was far too busy laughing at the movie. Seriously, if you haven't seen this yet then you should definitely go! I am probably going to see it again.

I do have a few knew bruises after our date though. Aparantly I have an annoying laugh when we are at the cinema, so my sister and brother kindly told me. So, whenever I laughed during the movie he would elbow me in the arm! Lovely. I must have been because it was really funny! Anyway, I had a lovely time with Fin.

Before we left I told him that he needed to get changed into something smarter. And this is what he came down in! He always makes me laugh!!

Fin is such a funny, caring, loving, thoughtful guy and I will miss him. I love you, Curly.
